I was a Republican’s Republican before Donald Trump. I grew up volunteering on GOP campaigns. I worked for a GOP U.S. Senator (Slade Gorton) and for George W. Bush. I was all in for Mitt in 2012. I did that because I believed in Republican ideas and governance.
I voted Democrat for President for the first time in 2020 based on Trump’s atrocious pandemic performance (and everything else). I disagree with today’s Democratic Party on some big issues. Yet, the differences between the candidates for President are clear. Kamala Harris:
- Believes in the Constitution
- Speaks with love for America, not apocalyptic gloom and grievance, and
- Supports Ukraine as well as our NATO allies.
That first bullet is more than enough for me after January 6th. The rest is gravy, and confirmation Kamala Harris represents pre-Trump conservatives better on some important issues than today’s GOP nominee.
He’s unfit to sit in the Oval Office. We all know it. Kamala Harris may not be the first choice for President for many of us, but she’s well-qualified, will serve with honor, and stands for core American ideals.
I’m happy to join Liz Cheney and so many other Republicans in choosing her, for America.
