Character matters and speaking truth to power is a responsibility of leaders. Spreading falsehoods about our credibly elected leaders undermines faith and trust in our country and its institutions. Rhetoric and policies that elevate and unite are what our country needs. It is a time for country over party.
Kamala Harris promises to be a president for all people. This attitude of inclusivity, and willingness to listen, toward others instills assurance that all voices will be heard.
At home, we need our leaders to bring us together as a nation. What unites us is bigger than what divides us. Respect for others, honesty, dedication to work, service, compassion, and being a light in the world are the promises of America, for all political parties. Abiding by the Constitution and the rules of democratic process are foremost to ensure that the continuity of our government continues.
As we came together after the Civil War, the World Wars, and the Cold War, we can come together again now at home and internationally to address pressing global issues. Continuing to build a strong and free America, a leader in the world, is what we as a nation want. Solidifying that role requires a leader with a steady temperament and a mind for collaboration. This will ensure that we can overcome domestic challenges to ensure security and prosperity and can plant seeds for peace in the world from the Middle East to Russia and Ukraine.
Abroad, we need a president who believes in enduring alliances and cultivates relationships with integrity and respect. Engaging in peace through strength while working through the United Nations, NATO, and the World Trade Organization – institutions that U.S. leadership established at the end of World War II – can ensure lasting peace through diplomacy.
These strengths of personal character, respect for our democracy at home, and peace through diplomacy abroad are reasons why I am voting for Kamala Harris.
