I am a fourth generation Arizonan, perhaps fifth, sixth or more. It’s difficult for my family to track. Regardless, I grew up in Arizona and continue to do so. This is the home that I know and love. Part of that growth was having the distinct honor of working for many years for the great Senator John McCain on each of his respective Presidential campaign teams and as his State Director. What an illuminating privilege.
Part of my progression required that I learn how Arizona was built by the Five C’s, which includes Copper, Cattle, Cotton, Climate and Citrus. For decades these titan industries shaped our state and helped to sustain our proud citizens.
Today, I believe that our goal is to add to our illustrious Five C narrative, as the future of our nation depends on the residents and voters of my state. It’s not about voting red or blue, it’s about voting for the new Five C’s. Are we people who are Compassionate, Caring, Collaborative, Character-driven and Connected by the common goals of truth, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all. Or are we going to allow a Trump regime to continue to divide by luring us to act out of our core fears and sad insecurities.
Arizona and our nation are at a great crossroads. With Trump, we are encouraged to demonize, slander and vilify people who are different from us. If we continue to normalize “Othering” people, rather than focusing on our shared humanity, then we are literally handing over all our cherished freedoms.
By voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, our Democracy has a chance to live out a proud legacy where we can dwell in possibility and create the Arizona and nation that we aspire to be. Harris/Walz have shared a vision where together we can be a society where everyone, regardless of background has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
What will be our story? Will it be Compassionate, Caring, Collaborative, Character-driven people who are profoundly Connected by our shared desire for a more perfect union?
This is our chance to meet the moment. VOTE Harris Walz 2024!
